I had this sweet little one in the studio recently. She was bound and determined to keep her little fingers clenched in a first formation the entire session. No matter how many times I begged for ballet hands, she just wouldn't give in. LOL!
We managed to get some amazing shots of her nonetheless. Such a cutie.
She wore every color we put on her very well. :)
What a perfect baby girl!
This little angel was such a sweetie pie. She was so good to work with. We shot a few days after my normal preference when it comes to doing newborn sessions but she still handled it like a pro.
We brought in her sweet lil' bro at the end of the session and snapped a couple of quick images of him. This was one of my favorites...(Mom also ordered a large canvas of it so I'm gathering it was a fav of hers as well. Wink wink! :-)

Three month old babies are too clients. They aren't technically lifting their heads up yet in order to lay on their tummy, they aren't sitting up, etc. Therefore, generally...you have to work with what they'll give you and hope for the best. Unlike a newborn who will generally sleep for you, most times a 12 week old baby won't. However, this sweet little girl did sleep for me during her three month session. Don't get me wrong...she totally made me work for it. However, we finally got her to give in and fall into a deep slumber. Clearly she was perferctly OK with that decision...
She even fit just perfectly in one of my newborn props. Check out the hair...
Before she dozed off, I managed to capture these beautiful images of her eyes wide open. Aren't they stunning eyes at that???
Even though she gave me my workout for the shoot, she was worth every second of the energy it took to get her to this point...

I love working with newborns. Even though some make me work for the shots a little harder than others, I still love em'! This little girl was a breeze. She was gorgeous and pleasant all wrapped up in this tiny little package. Sessions like hers make you forget how tough newborns can be to photograph sometimes. She spoiled me for those two hours we had together. :)
The hardest part of a newborn shoot can sometimes be the transitioning from one set to another. Once you get them positioned and sleeping, you really cringe at the thought of having to move them again. However, with a seasoned pro, they move from set to set with total ease...

We like to see newborns that are ten days and younger for the best outcome in a newborn session. Once they pass that two week mark, they begin to stretch out and not stay balled up in those newborn fetal positions that we love so much. It's always best to have their newborn portraits taken prior to that 10-14 day old range. By doing so, we capture all of the fine details that make a newborn...well...a newborn.

I had the honor of working with this sweet newborn baby girl recently. She was such a charmer. So incredibly easy to work with.
She had just a couple of bouts of being awake during the shoot but easily went back off into a deep slumber.
Before all was said and done, we even got some great smiles out of her. Love these type of shots...

Did you know that if you're expecting and wanting newborn images of your precious soon to be new arrival, you should book your session with your photographer (a.k.a...ME) at around your 30-35 week mark. We want a good enough lead time to assure you a spot on our appointment book and the earlier we know that you have a new baby due soon, the better. Thirty weeks is typically around the perfect time to give us a call with your due date and details.Once your new little one arrives, I like to make sure we get the shoot in within the first week to fourteen days of their life. The newer the newborn, the better the shoot usually goes. So...if you want to swing by and do the shoot on your way home from the hospital, we're totally down with that. LOL! I've been away - in Atlanta - for another workshop over the past weekend. I spent Friday thru Sunday, one on one, with Debbie Layden (a newborn and children's photographer there in Atlanta). I had a blast and got to drown myself in newborn photography as well as studio and outdoor lighting. Deb was great to work one on one with as I got to ask all the questions I wanted and didn't feel like a dork asking them. LOL!As a photographer, I like to consider myself a "life-learner." Meaning, I never want to get to the point in photography or in life period where I think I just "know it all." No one ever knows E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G and therefore, why not make it a priority to keep learning all throughout life (whether it be in your career, your hobby, your passion, etc.)? Because I want to remain a life-learner, I intend to always make it a priority to attend any workshop, conference, class, seminar, etc. that I feel is necessary to my craft. I want my clients to have the best product possible and I can honestly say that with each workshop or conference I've attended, it's only bettered the end result of my art. I once heard a photography mentor of mine say to treat workshops and classes as though they are your college - ongoing college. So I do. I have two other workshops coming up this year (one next month in March and one in September) that I hope will also add to the list of things that have helped me improve my product and further educate my brain in regard to this industry.Because of the above, I'm so grateful for those who "teach" in this industry. Without them, we'd be a lot further behind in most cases than we currently are. Right? So...thank you to all of you out there who aren't afraid to share your knowledge with other photographers. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!The Valentine's in our house were packaged up & sent off to school without a hitch today. As a photographer, I've attached photos with each of my children's Valentine's for their classes - for as long as I can remember. Not only is it a cute look for your kiddo's in an effort to help their Valentine cards stand out but it's also a good advertisement for business. And yes, I do include my website address somewhere on the card in smaller print. In this case, it's on the back side of the design. :) I am "that Mom." LOL! I'm always marketing/networking. Always.You don't have to be a photographer to do this. If you specialize in another field/career, place that on the back of your kiddo's Valentine's next year. Slip in a website address and market whenever and wherever possible. You never know who's watching or whose hands it might land in. :) In the meantime, I hope your love bug(s) made your Valentine's Day very special. Give those who melt your heart a HUGE hug today and remind them how much they're loved. And to all of you...my clients, my friends, my family, my fans, my stalkers...I sure do love you guys! In honor of Valentine's Day tomorrow, I thought I'd share this little cutie in one of my puppy love hats (above). This sweet little guy was such a trooper and did so well for his shoot. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him and his Mommy.
Aside from the puppy love hat, we also sported him in some traditional stuff too.
As you can see, he was just as snug as a little bug in a rug. Too cute!

What a doll baby this one was. She was a few weeks older than a newborn technically is but boy did she pack a punch in the cuteness department.
Need I say anymore?The yellow blanket in the top image was something her Mama brought with her. It was a family heirloom that even her Mommy was photographed with as a baby. The patterned pink quilt in the image above is a 1920's vintage quilt that I found at an antique store. I had been dying to use it in a newborn shoot. I paired it with my ruffly prop hat and her ruffly tutu that her Mom came with and it all went together just perfectly. I love the punches of color. So adorable!
The sweater she was wearing here was a family heirloom as well...
She really ROCKED the cuteness scale. Beautiful would be an understatement. Being a newborn, baby, & children's photographer has its perks. Meeting this little girl and her Mama were one of them. :)Much love, Angie
Oh WOW! Being a newborn and children's photographer sure has it's perks. I recently had this little princess in front of my camera. She was such a pro. She slept the entire time and barely woke here or there when we'd transition her from pose to pose. When she did wake at one point, I managed to capture those beautiful newborn eyes of hers as she took everything in...
Mom had mentioned that her home was done in beach decor and that she'd really like something to match the environment for her walls. I chose to go with the aqua wrap and some pearls because they screamed "beach" to me. She wore it perfectly well. We then switched it up and did some shots with a few people tones. Gorgeous again. She never even made a peep...
For a final look, we went with my favorite color combo ever...turquoise and red. Can anyone say "BEAUTIMOUS?"
As you can see, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect little client. Congrats to her Mommy and Daddy - she is their first. Mommy was beaming during our session. I loved watching their interaction together. Amazing stuff! A big thanks to this gorgeous baby girl for doing such a fabulous job during our time together and an even bigger thanks to her Mommy for coming to me and allowing me to capture these early day moments....Angie
